Summer may be behind us on the calendar, but its color is lingering a little longer at 1509 El Campo. Bright pink blooms mingle with warm orange flowers and deep purple foliage, carrying the garden beautifully into fall. There’s something we love about this time of year—the anticipation of cooler days, with plenty of life and color still holding on from the season before.

Stanley Light’s home, our October Garden of the Month selection, captures that feeling with a lovely combination of colorful flowers, bold foliage, and natural stone. Against the white brick and dark window frames, each planting has room to stand out. Silvery blue agaves offer a cool contrast to the warmer colors, while upright greenery adds height among the lower, spreading plants.
What we particularly appreciate is that the garden’s interest goes well beyond its blooms. The different leaf shapes, textures, and shades give the beds character of their own. Deep purple leaves and earthy boulders bring a richness that feels especially fitting as we move into October.

Along the front porch, generous stepping stones set in gravel create an inviting approach. Sculptural plants and large natural stones complement the home’s clean lines without making the garden feel overly formal.

The covered porch is another favorite detail. Its warm wood ceiling, patterned chairs, and small wooden tables look like a lovely place to settle in on one of those cooler evenings we’re all ready to enjoy. With mature trees framing the property, the whole setting feels welcoming.
Congratulations to Stanley Light, and thank you for giving Casa Linda Estates such a colorful welcome to fall!
